Important Clarification of the Rules

With just under five weeks remaining, we are almost halfway through this challenge. Time is flying by, so make sure you keep a steady pace on your entry. Based on the questions we have been receiving, here are some clarifications on the rules and eligibility:

1. Individuals Can Submit a Paid Theme AND Free Theme

Individuals are welcome to participate in the hackathon as well as teams. While each individual may only submit one entry to the hackathon, that entry may include BOTH a paid theme AND a free theme, as long as the free theme is a simplified version of the paid theme.

If an individual submits both a paid and free theme in their entry, judges will evaluate the paid theme when scoring the entry for all prizes except the bonus prize “best free theme.” For that bonus prize, judges will evaluate the free theme included in the entry.

Entering both a paid and free theme is optional. Participants may choose to enter only a paid theme or only a free theme. (Why should you consider submitting a free theme? Learn more here.)

It is important to note that these rules only apply to this specific hackathon. Outside of the contest, providers may submit any number of themes to the Asset Marketplace.

We apologize for any confusion on this issue. We are making this clarification to ensure individuals and teams have an equal opportunity to compete for all available prizes.

2. Ensure The Person Who Submits Your Entry is Eligible to Receive Prizes

Once your theme is complete, you'll need to select an individual representative or entity on your team to submit your official entry. Please ensure this person is eligible to receive prizes in the country or territory where they reside.

If your country requires contests of skill to be registered or bonded or has other legal restrictions, it may prevent us from awarding prizes to your entry. For example, individuals in Brazil and Quebec will NOT be eligible to receive prizes. So please double-check the rules and your local laws to ensure your designated representative or entity is eligible!

3. Help Us Plan Some Awesome Swag

If you haven't done so yet, please fill out this short survey to help us understand your team and goals. This will ensure we are prepared to review the number of entries we receive, and will help us plan some awesome event swag.
